Santiago Calatrava
Santiago Calatrava was born in a small Spanish village called Benimamet near the city of Valencia. Benimamet was very close to the Le Corbusier chapel at Ronchamp, and he made many sketches of it when he was young. When he graduated from high school, he enrolled in the Ecole des Beaux-Arts school in Paris, to learn about architecture. However, the school had to close, so he went back to Valencia. Calatrava then enrolled in their Architecture school and the Arts and Crafts School. After he graduated from them, he went to Zurich, Switzerland to study engineering at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology. After completing his thesis, "On the Foldability of Space Forms," he ended his academic training, with approximately 12 years of college education.
