Representation

Different Architects have different styles of representing there ideas, for Antoine Hidock, drawing is "a vehicle for understanding and a gestural act upon itself." He tries to emdody the spirit of a building more than the details and proportions. on the other hand- Will Aslop has a tendency to represent his ideas in paintings, as more of an artist then an architect. Unlike Aslop though many architects simply use sketches. These would include Antoine Predock and Calatrava, and Peter Zumthor does crayon sketches. Others use models and sketches, these include-Frank Gerry, Norman Foster, and Renzo Piano. Then others only use models, examples of this are-Shigeru Ban, Ma Yongsong, Thom Mayne, Diller Scofidio, and NOX. Another means of representing ideas is paintings, architects who do these include-Will Aslop and Steven Holl. The last main way to do it is diagrams and JDS and UN studios use these. Now there is one architect who stands out and that is Zaha Hadid who did all of the above.
