Diller & Scofidio have always designed buildings a little “differently”. They have put furniture on walls and ceilings, and they have put mannequins built into the house, and have even forced the perspective of the inhabitants so that they can’t see the horizon. they have made a park on an elevated railroad. they use strange materials to create amazing effects as in the blur building where the fog allows you to project images into thin air and blurs the surroundings. the slither that allows the inhabitants to fold in their balconies and close off there room.
Diller & Scofidio have made architecture no longer about comfort and shelter but about the visual appeal and turned it into an art of its own. They have made a building that has no walls and is just a skeleton that produces its own fog (the Blur Building)
. They made a building with folding balconies that weaves through the city like a snake (the Slither). The even went so far as to make a building that has huge TV screen that plays prerecorded videos and circles the entire building (the Facsimile).
